I would like to kick this section off with a Sexy Spring wine called SOAVE pronounced (so - ah - ve). Just think Suavemente the reggae-ton song, for this wine supposedly received its name meaning "smooth" for its mild and easy going taste. This white wine is perfect for this season, its a fun and flirty wine and pairing with your great fashion sense this will only compliment you on your nights out on the town. As we dine out more and meals get lighter this wine compliments well with appetizers and small portion dishes.
I would like to fill you in on the details of the wine so that you will be able to speak intelligently about it and know the difference and recognize some similarities of wines you may already drink.
I purchased the Latium Morini - Campo Le Calle version at the location below.
Origin: Soave is from the Veneto, Italy and produced from the Garganega grape. Similar wines that use this grape is Pinot Bianco and Chardonnay.
Taste: Dry with a bitter finish.
Appearance: Straw color, light yellow
Smell: Earthy and nutty at times (to me)
Best served at 48 deg F
14% alcohol (can find others lower at about 11%)
Pairing: I enjoyed my bottle in 2 ways. First with roman pecorino cheese and blueberries. This was an ahhhmazzing combination, the contrast of bitter and sweet of the blueberries and the bit of salty taste from the pecorino cheese was fused perfectly with my glass or 2 of Soave. Second I enjoyed it with a grilled chicken salad with oil and balsamic vinegar dressing with sliced avocado and Greek Kalamata olives.
Hope you enjoy this post feel free to let me know if you tried it and if you have any further questions about this wine or others you would like me to review.
